[Ci4cg-announce] Happy to say...

Looks good - and oddly the highlighted patterns (purpose, principle and community) are often those that get leapfrogged, to the detriment of the ultimate platform.

Keep going...

Hi Dmitry,

It looks interesting!

I'm not quite sure however what I'm looking at. The main thing I'd want to see is how, for examples, our Liberating Voices patterns could be hosted there and help it might be able to facilitate conversation and use.

One of the ideas that is floating around is a pattern language to help with the development of a new platform / media / network / what-have-you that (to my mind at least) would support civic intelligence.

Here are the Pattern Categories I had jotted down...

Purpose
Principles
Community
Architecture
Governance
Development
Functionality
Look and Feel
Policy
Outreach / Communication
What else is there?

The question would first be how would go about developing the patterns?!? I was vaguely thinking about the original Internet RFC approach.....

thanks!

- Doug

PS. I assume that I've shared these already but...

Is it something you would be interested in participating?

Cheers,

Dear all,

Happy new year!

The faces of many of you have started fading away since London in 2014
(?) :-)
(but I plan to come to the next C&T conference)

Perhaps it would make sense to have an update on what people are doing?
And also who is in this list?

The last 2 years I am working on the pattern "combine research and action"
through a new non-profit organization based in Zurich: http://nethood.org<http://nethood.org/>
and two EU projects on "DIY networking": http://netcommons.eu<http://netcommons.eu/> &
http://mazizone.eu<http://mazizone.eu/> (in which we are proud to have Doug in our advisory
board but have not asked for advice yet :-))

See also these recent articles:

We have been successful in engaging both researchers and activists
in this domain, but very bad at documenting. Is there a pattern for this?
"Document before you advance" :-)

Best,

Panos.

I'm happy to say that things seem to be back to normal on this list.
The software / hardware on our creaky (and old!) Seattle Community
Network hasn't necessarily kept up with the times (or the financial
investment).

Thanks to the people that told me the message reached them.

You don't have to send me any more notes that said my message arrived.

You can write me for other reasons if you want! :-)

If you have new year's wishes for this list you can also post them!
That's what I'm hoping to do soon.

Clearly the danger signs are clearly blinking for collective
intelligence for the common good. And not just in the US.

I'd like to think that we could work together across various borders
to avert the slide into violence and oppression that some people seem
to be promoting.

I'll send out my ideas soon but we'd also like to hear yours!!!

Naively,

- Doug
