We do currently have a way to "annotate" the patterns. Try this (if you're logged on): http://publicsphereproject.org/node/add/pattern-annotation (Let me know if this doesn't work.....) Having said that the patterns are still far from being the vibrant "social objects" we wanted them to be. — Doug > Doug, The subject of my pattern which includes the GPI (Genuine Progress Indicator) has made it to the mainstream media. Check this out: http://money.cnn.com/2014/06/30/news/economy/gross-national-happiness. I was thrilled. Maybe we should start having links between our patterns and examples/articles in action. > Douglas Schuler douglas at publicsphereproject.org https://twitter.com/doug_schuler ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Public Sphere Project http://www.publicsphereproject.org/ Creating the World Citizen Parliament http://interactions.acm.org/archive/view/may-june-2013/creating-the-world-citizen-parliament Liberating Voices! There are two upcoming events in Krems, Austria devoted to Pattern Languages and Christopher Alexander's work generally. A workshop this November and a conference in July 2015. http://purplsoc.org — Pursuit of Pattern Languages for Societal Change Prior to the international conference PURPLSOC in July 2015, a two-day workshop will be hosted at Danube-University on November 14/15, 2014. The main goal of the workshop is to gain a deeper and more grounded understanding of the applicability of the ideas of Christopher Alexander in various fields. We call for high-quality and innovative submissions, which address one or multiple of our topics and already are in a mature state. These submissions form the basis for deeper discussions in smaller work groups. Following the workshop in November 2014, an international conference will be hosted by Danube University Krems in July 2015. This conference will close just before Europlop 2015(July 8/12). World Conference 2015 Following the workshop in November 2014, the world conference PURPLSOC will be hosted by Danube University Krems from 3th to 5thof July 2015 – close to Europlop 2015 (8th to 12th of July). PURPLSOC provides a forum for researchers from a variety of fields as well as the broader public to come together and discuss topics such as: • Architecture, Urbanism and Regional Development • Design – from Software to Hardware • Organizational Development • Education and Design for Learning • Social Activism and Social innovation • Music, Arts, Culture, Playful Patterns Motivation: During the last two decades many patterns, pattern languages, and case studies describing their successful application have been published in a number of different disciplines. However, this still feels like the tip of an iceberg, with many open scientific questions, e. g. regarding the theoretical background of patterns and the practical implementation of pattern methods in research and teaching. Both workshop and conference are intended to stimulate the attention for pattern related work, both in the scientific community and the wider public, by showing its broad applicability and fruitfulness.
