URL: From douglas at publicsphereproject.org Wed Oct 29 22:35:54 2014 From: douglas at publicsphereproject.org (Doug Schuler) Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2014 22:35:54 -0700 Subject: [Pattern-language] pattern mashup remix ~~~ results from a tiny proto experiment Message-ID: <895C09F7-3F64-4A94-93E9-66D49B310536@publicsphereproject.org> Thanks to my trusty shuffle routine I was able to quickly generate some mashup / remixes of three pattern languages. 73 Groupworks patterns (which can be recognized below because no number precedes them) 136 Liberating Voices patterns 253 A Pattern Language patterns (which can be recognized below because the patterns are written in upper case letters) Obviously the shuffling program would be drawing from the various pattern languages roughly in proportion to how many patterns each has. Thus APL should supply about 55% of the responses, LV (30%) and GW (16%) of the patterns. In case 2 below, the program is drawing from the same number of patterns from the three pattern languages. The idea — if there's an idea at all — is that the patterns could be used together in ways that would resonate in various circumstances. (PS. it's synectics, not bibliomancy) I guess it's a kind of an experiment. Of course people usually select their own patterns to use — but they could also start with a random set and remove the ones that aren't relevant.
