   There's a site called "Microsoft's Really Hidden Files" that
lists a number of system files that aren't ordinarily accessible
to the user, apparently including the index.dat file that the
New Zealand Times article mentioned. It gives some instructions
about how to remove them, and from just a quick look, it seems
to be more detailed than the newspaper article. See
