FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PLEASE:

SEATTLE'S CREATIVE INDEPENDENTS CELEBRATE OPEN HOUSE

The last few months have seen unprecendented organizational
activity among Seattle's independent film and video makers and various
media arts organizations. More than ever before, local talent,
producers,
and organizers are sharing resources, networking, press responsibilties,
and audiences. It is with this cooperative power in numbers in mind
that
the recently formed Seattle Independent Film and Video Consortium
(SIFVC)
and the more veteran Seattle Independent Media Coalition (SIMC) announce
the first shared Open House to be held on Friday, September 20th at 8:00
pm at 911 Media Arts Center (117 Yale, across from the new REI in
downtown
Seattle).

The Open House will bring together for the first time media
mavens
and producers of Seattle's hottest independently run festivals,
screenings, on and off-line zines, "pirate" radio stations, and media
literacy and activist groups. The Open House aims to provide a unique
and
art-filled forum in which collaborative ventures can be discussed and
expanded. More than forty art groups are slotted for the occasion and
will have samples of their respective projects on hand for review. For
example, Micro-Radio F.U.C.C. 89.1 FM will broadcast live readings from
the new poetry book by Real Change, the homeless newspaper; Nice Soft
Rutabaga will lead off the evening with a video shorts extravaganza, and
Citizen Vagrom's well-known kiosk will serve up various "Non-Corporate"
perspectives throughout the evening. The Open House promises to be a
rare
and unique treat. Come and celebrate the incredible diversity and
excitement of independent media.
