Before there was a webeditors list the requests were made. I am
not sure if it was when we had the webmasters mailing list, or
webmaster mailing list. I did try to access the archives at that
time, following the published proceedures, it didn't work; I emailed
either you and/or one of the lists and got either no response or
was told I didn't have permissions to access archives.
