Actually, my response was at least half serious.  I don't see the
Board as servants of the members.  They're volunteers, same as
everyone else, with finite time and energy.  And I didn't notice any
vast surplus of candidates for these coveted Board positions.  If a
user/member can help out by posting minutes or whatever, why not?

This response in offensive to me - I HOPE that this is a tongue in
cheek answer to a serious request.  

A member, served by a Board, should not be required to attend a
Board meeting to find out what has occured at said meeting, much less
be asked to perform a function that all Boards should have integral
to their operations!
